Arroyo Grande High head tennis coach Lori Hollister has been selected to receive the California High School Coach of the Year Award from the U.S. Professional Tennis Association.
Hollister guided the Eagles' girls and boys tennis teams to back-to-back, undefeated PAC-7 league titles over the past two seasons. This past fall, the girls finished 23-2 and advanced to the CIF-Southern Section quarterfinals.
The USPTA will honor Hollister during a luncheon scheduled for Jan. 29 at the Home Depot Center in Carson.
Cal Poly wrestling team falls to Wyoming
Despite wins from nationally ranked Boris Novachkov and Ryan DesRoches, the Cal Poly wrestling team fell 26-9 at Wyoming on Friday night.
Novackov lifted his record to 22-2 with a 6-2 decision over Chase Smith at 141 pounds, while DesRoches rebounded from his first loss of the season with a 6-1 decision over Patrick Martinez at 174.
Novachkov and DesRoches, who is now 20-1 following his win over No. 21 Martinez, both are ranked No. 4 by InterMat this week.
Cal Polys only other winner was 285-pounder Kelan Bragg with an 11-7 decision over Leland Pfeifer in the final bout of the dual meet.
Cal Poly wrestles at Air Force today.
