The Nipomo High wrestling team tallied nine pins against Cabrillo on Tuesday night, including Josue Mendozas pin of Lucas Derflinger in 1 minute 48 seconds at 182 pounds, to defeat the Conquistadors 66-6 in a Los Padres League dual.
Nipomo (3-0 LPL) freshman Nick Kimball, wrestling at 120 pounds, won by fall in 2:23 over Arturo Perez for the Titans. Also earning pins for Nipomo were Jason Costa (220 pounds, pin in 4:59), Brett Kimball (285, 2:31), Damian Duran (126, 2:23), August Caruso (132, 2:33), Damion Llamas (138, 3:53), Jake Evan (160, 3:28), Harrison Bickmore (170, 5:46) and Josue Mendoza (182, 1:48).
German Atilano (113) won in a 6-4 decision, and Dylan Hulsizer (145) won in a 9-7 decision for the Titans. Jared Dorado (195) won by forfeit.
Morro Bay 44, Santa Maria 30
Chris Kim (132 pounds) won on a technical fall, and teammate Christian DeLeon (160 pounds) won by pin for the Pirates in the LPL dual at home.
Arroyo Grande 45, St. Joseph 35; Paso Robles 45, Arroyo Grande 19
The Eagles (2-2 PAC 7) beat the Knights before losing to the Bearcats. No further information was provided.
Righetti 40, Atascadero 21
The Greyhounds suffered their first loss of the season and dropped to 5-1 in the PAC 7 and 10-1 overall.
BOYS BASKETBALL
Coast Union 62, Cuyama Valley 29
Quinton Rathke scored 15 points, Allan Hernandez scored 13 and Jumel Mislang scored 11 to lead the Broncos (8-5, 5-1 Coast Valley League) to the win on the road.
Orcutt Academy 64, North County Christian 51
Daniel Katches had 16 points and 17 rebounds, and Austin Boggan had 11 points and 14 rebounds, but it wasnt enough for the Crusaders (6-9).
GIRLS BASKETBALL
North County Christian 56, Orcutt Academy 27
The Crusaders (7-1) cruised to the road win behind huge games from Brianna Feld and Mandy Legault.
Legault had 21 points, nine rebounds and seven steals and Feld had 17 points, 12 rebounds, seven blocks and three steals for North County Christian.
Coastal Christian 25, Shandon 10
The Conquerors (4-4 CVL) were led by Amy Arnold, who scored 10 points in the road win.
Roni Garrison added eight points, and Sevelyn VanRonk put up seven for Coastal Christian.
BOYS SOCCER
Nipomo 3, Cabrillo 2, 2 OT
Buddy Kichler scored twice, including the game winner in the second overtime off an assist by Aaron Robles, to give the Titans (6-9-3, 4-2 LPL) the road victory.
Eruba Ponce had seven saves in goal for Nipomo.
GIRLS SOCCER
Morro Bay 3, Lompoc 1
Sanja Peter scored twice, and Elsa Ruiz added one goal and one assist for the Pirates (2-12-1, 2-3-1 LPL).
Hanna Neisinger had 12 saves in goal for Morro Bay.
Mission Prep 6, Orcutt Academy 1
The Royals (7-5) dominated the Spartans at home.
Kelly Scharlach led the Royals with three goals. Sydney Ratjens and Annabel Scott also scored for Mission Prep.
Ella Mobert was goalkeeper for the first half, and Grace Ouser was in the box for the second half. They combined for four saves.
Templeton 1, Santa Ynez 1, 2 OT
Lindsay Tansum scored on a 40-yard penalty kick in the second half, and Sammy Schmidt had 10 saves in goal for the Eagles.
Cabrillo 2, Nipomo 1
The Titans (6-5-1, 3-2-1 LPL) fell short against the Conquistadores. Courtney Crowe scored Nipomos only goal.
Brianna Gonzales and Ebony Quarles had seven combined saves in goal for Nipomo.
GIRLS WATER POLO
San Luis Obispo 17, Pioneer Valley 3
The visiting Tigers had 13 different scorers, as Emma Tietje led with three goals and Becca Teng and Kacie Gin each added two.
Goalie Elizabeth Waddell finished with four saves for San Luis Obipso (4-2 PAC 7). The Tigers took control after an 8-0 first quarter over Pioneer Valley (0-6 PAC 7).
Arroyo Grande 14, Righetti 2
Alexis Elias scored four goals, Katie Svercheck scored three and Hannah Kope, Kelsey Doucouto and Melanie Popovich scored two apiece as the Eagles (15-2, 6-0 PAC 7) rolled at home.
Kylie Anderson and Hannah Wadlow combined for 10 saves, and Molliann Jones added one goal to round out the scoring for Arroyo Grande.
Righetti 9, Paso Robles 4
Erika Smeltzer had two goals along, and Kylie Tugh and Stephanie Smith had a goal apiece as the Bearcats (7-11, 2-3 PAC 7) fell to the Warriors.
Paso Robles goalie Marti-Rae Grois had 13 saves.
