  A San Luis Obispo man was arrested early Wednesday morning after allegedly burglarizing two apartments in the city.

  At 3 a.m., a resident on Cortez Court called police after hearing someone walking in her backyard, according to a news release from the San Luis Obispo Police Department.

  Officers arrived and found Zachery D. Leland, 23, according to the news release.

  This scene led to an arrest and conviction of a 31-year-old Los Osos man accused of burglarizing the home of Judge Dodie Harman, according to law enforcement sources.

  Gary Aaron Lyons entered a plea of no contest Thursday before Judge Michael Barton in San Luis Obispo Superior Court to four charges, including residential burglary and grand theft. In a plea of no contest, a defendant is convicted without admitting guilt.

  North Coast lodging and tourism executives are spending funds paid by their guests to upgrade two Chamber of Commerce websites and otherwise help stimulate overnight tourist visits here.

  As of mid-February, Cambria Tourism Board and San Simeon Tourism Alliance had accumulated more than $650,000 between them to help promote local events and make it easier for potential travelers to learn about the beauty of the area, activities offered and available services, such as restaurants, shops and, yes, lodgings. Funds are kept separate for each community.

  The two boards, with final approval by the county Board of Supervisors, can allocate their funds toward promoting selected projects, programs and events that will help promote tourism and positively impact lodging occupancy in their areas, particularly during the slow seasons.

  Atascadero police said they arrested a local homeless man on suspicion of commercial burglary.

  In the early morning hours of April 26 officers were dispatched to the North County Thrift Store at 7395 El Camino Real for a possible burglary in progress, according to an Atascadero Police Department press release issued on Thursday.

  Someone driving by the business noticed that the front doors of the store were open and a man riding a “chopper style,” beach cruiser bicycle was riding away from there.
