One of the countys leading early childhood organizations is looking for a representative from the community to serve on its commission.
First 5 San Luis Obispo County more formally known as the Children and Families Commission is seeking a representative-at-large.
Those who are interested may be parents, recipients of project services or educators specializing in early childhood development, according to Susan Hughes, executive director.
They also may be representatives of a local child care coordinating group, she said, or a local organization for prevention or early intervention for families at risk, a local school district, or a local medical, pediatric or obstetric agency.
Interested individuals must complete an application, which must be turned in by 5 p.m. Jan. 11. For a copy of the application, call 781-4058 or visit the First 5 San Luis Obispo County website at www.first5slo.org.
Completed applications may be delivered or mailed to the First 5 SLO County office, 3220 S. Higuera St. Suite 232, San Luis Obispo, CA 93401 or emailed to first5@first5slo.org.
The commission allocates approximately $1.4 million annually to promote and improve programs that support the early development of children, from before birth to age 5.
