Grover Beach courthouse to suspend operations

As of Tuesday, those trying to use the Grover Beach courthouse will be sent north.

San Luis Obispo Superior Court officials have announced the suspension of operations at the building effective Tuesday.

Citing unprecedented reductions in judicial funding, the courthouse at 214 S. 16th St. will move its hearings to the San Luis Obispo courthouse at 1035 Palm St. in San Luis Obispo. The county court has about a $1 million shortfall this year.

Court leaders said in a statement they hope that “the suspension of operations is temporary and promise to aggressively seek restoration of the recent funding cuts so at to ensure continuing access to justice for everyone.”

The Grover Beach court handles misdemeanors, some civil cases, small claims and juvenile traffic cases.

  • Do not use the commenting system for advertising. That's spam and it isn't allowed.
  • Don't use all capital letters. That's akin to yelling and not appreciated by the audience.
