So far, no Sears or Kmart stores in San Luis Obispo County are slated to close, according to a partial list released by Sears Holdings Corp.
On Tuesday, the parent company of Sears and Kmart announced that at least 100 stores would be closed to raise cash after a lackluster holiday shopping season.
The partial list shows 79 of the stores the retailer plans to close, three of which are located in California. Two stores in San Diego and one store in El Monte are on the list.
Additional stores are expected be added to the closure list as they become available.
Sears operates two stores in San Luis Obispo County, one in San Luis Obispo, the other in Paso Robles. Kmart also has two locations in the county, one in Arroyo Grande and one in Atascadero.
