The fifth annual San Luis Obispo County Restaurant Month kicks off Jan. 2, with more than 35 restaurants offering three-course prix fixe menus for $30 per person. Wine pairings can be added for an extra charge.
The event that began in 2008 showcases fresh, locally grown produce, meats and wines.
Reservations are recommended and may even be required at some restaurants.

According to Dean Runyan Associates, an economic and market research company, visitors to California spent $23.1 billion on food and beverages. Thats more than any other spending segment, constituting 26 percent of all visitor spending in 2010.
