A Paso Robles man was arrested Tuesday night for allegedly stealing from parked cars in a residential neighborhood.
Around 11:20 p.m. Tuesday, the Paso Robles Police Department received a report about an auto burglary in progress in the 2400 block of Winding Brook Road.

Paso Robles resident Michael Gary Wood Jr., 41, was arrested after police found him exiting a vehicle parked in a residential driveway there. Wood matched the description of the suspect.
A subsequent investigation and evidence from the scene also linked Wood to four other vehicles he reportedly stole from that same night, Lt. Tim Murphy said.
Those crimes included one case of auto burglary, two cases of petty theft from a vehicle and one case of vehicle tampering, he said.
The cases of petty theft mean Wood allegedly took items from unlocked vehicles while the auto burglary charge refers to a case where he reportedly broke into a vehicle. Wood allegedly took everything from change, to electronics to “anything loose in a car,” Murphy said.
He was booked into San Luis Obispo County Jail on suspicion of burglary, possession of stolen property, petty theft, prowling, vehicle tampering and possession of a controlled substance. The substance was methamphetamine, which police believe wasn’t one of the items Wood allegedly took from vehicles, Murphy said.
As of Thursday afternoon, Wood remained at County Jail in lieu of $64,000 bail, according to online jail records.
The Paso Robles Police Department is asking anyone who believes items were also stolen from their vehicles recently to call police at 237-6464 or Crime Stoppers at 549-STOP. Callers can also text information to SLOTIPS at 274637.
