The Land Conservancy of San Luis Obispo County reports that it has conserved more than 4,700 acres of land since 2005, bringing the total amount of local protected land to 13,800.
This follows a national trend in which 10 million acres of land were protected over that same period. The groups most recent success was to conserve 1,337 acres of the Nick Ranch near Pozo.
