Third-seeded DesRoches upset second-seeded Nick Heflin of Ohio State 3-2 before defeating Justin Zeerip of Michigan 6-5 in the title match.

Despite trailing Zeerip 5-2 after two periods, DesRoches rallied for three straight points and escaped in the second tiebreaker for the one-point victory.

Mustangs 141-pounder Boris Novachkov and 285-pounder Atticus Disney each lost twice and both finished fifth.

Brandon Rocha, the last Cal Poly wrestler still alive in the wrestlebacks after Friday, was eliminated in a 9-2 loss by Nebraska’s Ridge Kiley.
