A female transient in Atascadero was arrested Saturday night for allegedly threatening a man and a woman with a handgun during an argument about a transient camp in Atascadero Creek.
Tracey Ballew, 42, was arrested on suspicion of assault with a deadly weapon using a handgun, according to police.

At approximately 7:20 p.m. Saturday, officers from the Atascadero Police Department were dispatched to the creek area near Capistrano Avenue and Sycamore Road after a caller reported hearing a fight about a gun, police said.
Officers arrived and talked to a man and a woman who said that Ballew pointed a gun at their heads. The trio reportedly had an argument about “tenant rights” at their transient camp, police said. Ballew had left the scene by the time officers arrived.
Officers established a perimeter around the location and requested assistance from San Luis Obispo County Sheriff’s Office and a police dog from the Paso Robles Police Department.
The dog found Ballew hiding in the creek area near the transient camp, police said.
As of Monday morning, Ballew remained in custody at San Luis Obispo County Jail in lieu of $50,000 bail.
