Atascadero police arrested two men Tuesday on suspicion of driving a stolen vehicle and possessing stolen property.
Just before 1:30 a.m., police arrested 18-year-old Brian Aaron Rivera-Miller and 19-year-old David James Mendez, both of Atascadero. Rivera-Miller was arrested on suspicion of possession of a stolen vehicle, possession of stolen property, criminal conspiracy and driving while unlicensed.
Mendez was suspected of possession of stolen property, criminal conspiracy and possession of drug paraphernalia.
A police news release stated that at 1:10 a.m., an officer was conducting a patrol check in the 8700 block of Coromar Avenue when he saw a suspicious vehicle. During a check of the license plate, the officer determined the vehicle had been reported stolen from Nipomo. The officer continued following the vehicle until it pulled into a gas station at 8000 Morro Road. With the assistance of other police officers, the cars three occupants were detained. Officers determined that Rivera-Miller and Mendez were in possession of stolen property and placed them under arrest. A 19-year-old female, also from Atascadero, was detained. She was later released.
Rivera-Miller and Mendez were later transported to the San Luis Obispo County Jail and booked.
