Mercantile opens house for holidays

On Saturday, Miki at the San Miguel Mercantile, 1141-A Mission St., invites everyone to a holiday open house starting at 9:30 a.m. She’ll be serving “sticky fingers” scones and a selection of teas. The store features a beautiful selection of antiques and collectibles along with fresh produce from the children’s garden at Lillian Larsen School. She accepts consignment items. It’s time to make plans for the annual San Miguel Holiday Electric Light Parade and Street Faire. This year, the event is scheduled for Dec. 17. The street faire begins at 2 p.m. A booth is $10. The parade starts at 6 p.m. Santa will be greeting children after the parade. To reserve a booth, call Mike Sanders at 712-9120. For entry forms and information, call Kathleen Carpenter at 857-2551.

Another holiday favorite is Las Posadas at the Rios-Caledonia Adobe sponsored by the Friends of the Adobes. On Dec. 3 from 7 to 9 p.m. AVID students from Paso Robles High School will present the Christmas story in tableaus.

The crèche will feature live animals in the manger. The museum and gift shop will be open with refreshments. Follow the luminarias along the path from the parking area to the adobe, where you’ll be given a candle to light your way. For information contact Joyce at 440-7173 or hermanjah@tcsn.net.

The newly formed San Miguel Chamber of Commerce committee is seeking new members. The mission of this group is to revitalize the town by supporting existing businesses while bringing in new merchants. For information, call Miki Landseadeal at 975-6996.
