The Arroyo Grande High girls team lost to Sage Hill on Tuesday afternoon, falling 10-8 in the CIF-Southern Division 3 quarterfinals.

“All the players performed really strong and played hard. They left it all on the court,” Arroyo Grande coach Lori Hollister said. “They displayed tremendous character and I am honored with the opportunity to be a part of their success for the season.”

The Eagles, who had won the PAC 7 championship in undefeated fashion, finished the season 23-2 overall.

They’ll send Whittle (54-1) on to the individual Southern Section playoffs in Carpinteria on Friday.

GIRLS VOLLEYBALL

Coast Union 3, Baker Valley 0

The Broncos advanced to the Southern Section Division 5A finals with a 25-6, 25-9, 25-22 sweep.

Sophie Flemion led Coast Union with 13 kills, and both Roxy Mertens and Nicky Ortiz had seven kills each for the Broncos (17-5).

Coast Union will take on Coast Valley League rival Coastal Christian in the championship match, either Friday or Saturday.

The host site is still to be determined. Cypress College is the designated site for the match, but because both teams are from San Luis Obispo County, the championship match may be moved to a site in San Luis Obispo County.

Coastal Christian 3, Santa Monica Academy 2

The Conquerors (17-2) prevailed 19-25, 25-10, 20-25, 25-17, 15-9 to advance to the division final.

“It was a nail-bitter, really back-and-forth,” Coastal Christian coach Misty Sano said. “Once we put our play into motion they couldn’t stop our hitters.”

Leslie Henry contributed 29 kills, 36 digs and 10 blocks in the win.

Coastal Christian’s Koral Wright had 51 digs and five aces, and JoAnn Lindstaedt had 45 assists.
