Three Bakersfield residents were arrested Monday night after allegedly breaking into mailboxes at two San Luis Obispo post offices.
At 11:23 p.m., a citizen called police to report three people breaking into the outdoor mailboxes at the post office at 1655 Dalidio Drive, off Madonna Road, according to the San Luis Obispo Police Department.

Officers stopped a vehicle leaving the area and recovered mail and property that was taken from the mailboxes, according to police. The citizen who called police identified the trio in the car as the ones breaking into the mailboxes.
Officers said they found pry tools and a metal bar inside the vehicle.
After further investigation, officers found that a large mailbox inside the post office at 893 Marsh St. had also been pried open and emptied.
The three people arrested were James Mason, 29, Jennifer Barthel, 31, and Edgar Gomez, 36.
The trio was booked into County Jail on suspicion of burglary, possession of a dangerous weapon and possession of burglary tools. Bail was set at $30,000. Mason and Gomez were also charged with parole violations and are being held on a parole hold.
