The Cuesta College volleyball team was swept at home 26-24, 25-21, 25-20 by No. 10-ranked Moorpark on Thursday night, falling to 10-8 overall and 6-4 in Western State Conference play.
Tess Gilkey had 15 kills and 11 digs, Monica Strickler had a match-high 21 digs, and Ashlan Cate led all players with 33 assists for the Cougars.
In Game 1, Cuesta had the score tied at 22 and again at 24 before giving up the next two points and the game to the Raiders (19-3, 11-0 WSC).
In the next set, the Cougars had a 16-13 lead but conceded the next six points and eventually the game. Cuesta was down
20-13 in the final set, and a rally fell short.
The Cougars will play at Ventura on Tuesday and will end their season Thursday at home against Mission.

The Cougars (6-14-1 WSC) lost in a game in which all five goals were scored in the first half.
Meg Lewis and Rachael Warner each scored a goal for Cuesta, with assists from Cammie Goodman and Angela LoJacono, respectively. Rachel Myers had three saves in goal, and Maia Oman had seven for the Cougars.
Cuesta finished in sixth place in the conference, with Hancock (10-9-1) battling for fourth.
This is the first time the Bulldogs have ever finished ahead of the Cougars in the WSC standings.
