Three Cal Poly wo-mens soccer players earned all-conference accolades Tuesday, after the Mustangs finished the season 9-9-1 (3-5-0 Big West Conference).
Junior Cici Kobinski was the only Cal Poly player to garner first-team honors. She started all 19 games for the Mustangs and scored two goals with two assists.
Sara Lancaster and Tiffany Gummow both received honorable mention honors. Lancaster led the Mustangs in points this year, scoring eight goals and one assist, while Gummow was second on the team in points, scoring seven goals with one assist.
Feighner wins academic honor
Cal Poly mens soccer senior Wes Feighner was one of 11 players named to the College Sports Information Directors of America Academic All-District 8 team.
Feighner, also Cal Polys Big West Male Scholar-Athlete of the Year honoree for 2010-11, helped the Mustangs set program records for fewest goals allowed (17) and fewest goals allowed per game (0.94) this past season.
Cal Poly women's golf team ties for third
The Cal Poly womens golf team finished tied for third with Grand Canyon in the Lamkin Grip Invitational on Tuesday, finishing with a 638 at Cypress Ridge Golf Course for the two-day tournament.
Cal State Northridge (636) overtook the Mustangs in a close battle for second, and Santa Clara won the 12-team tournament at 628.
Cal Polys top finisher was Asia Adell, who followed Mondays 77 with a 76 on Tuesday to card a 153 and finish in fifth place, tied with Monica Jung of Southern Utah and Margo Dionisio of Cal State Northridge.
Santa Claras Balbina Guajardo was the medalist with rounds of 77 and 73 for 150, finishing one stroke ahead of two others.
