A 27-year-old Grover Beach man was arrested Friday for allegedly giving methadone to his younger half sister, who later died from a multiple-drug overdose, the San Luis Obispo County Sheriff’s Office announced Tuesday.
The 17-year-old Arroyo Grande girl was found dead on the morning of May 5 at her half brother’s home off Amado Street in Nipomo.

The Tribune is not publishing the girl’s name because little information is known about the circumstances surrounding the incident.
Her half brother, Theo Evan Macey, now of Grover Beach, was arrested Friday on the charge of furnishing a controlled substance to a minor.
The investigation lasted several months because detectives needed enough evidence for probable cause, according to the Sheriff’s Office. Authorities declined to say what that evidence was.
Methadone is a drug often used to prevent withdrawal symptoms in opiate addictions.
Additional information on how Macey obtained the methadone was not divulged by the Sheriff’s Office. The other drugs in the teen’s body included drugs prescribed to her.
The family declined to comment.
