A construction and redevelopment project is under way on an acre-and-a-half parcel of land at 2959 Broad St. in San Luis Obispo.
Currently, thats where Enterprise Rent-A-Car and Luna Rustica, a furniture store and warehouse, are located. The two retailers have shared the space on Broad for nine years.
Construction on the buildings began about three weeks ago. When the project is completed, Enterprise will have its own building at the corner of Broad Street and Sweeney Lane.
Luna Rustica will move its retail store to the front of its existing building at that location.
The Luna Rustica warehouse will be reduced by a small portion to make way for an express car wash that is being built on the north side of the lot.
Once the redevelopment is complete, both Enterprise Rent-A-Car and Luna Rustica will emerge with better facilities and a better situation, said Michael Carija, owner of Luna Rustica.
Construction on Luna Rustica is expected to be completed in the next 30 days.
Enterprise Rent-A-Cars new building is expected to be ready by Feb. 15, and the express car wash is expected to open in the spring.
Enterprise Rent-A-Car and Luna Rustica are both open during construction.
