Cal Poly has won three of the six Big West Conference postseason cross country awards.
Mitchell Moriarty and Meghan Breadmore earned the mens and womens Freshman of the Year awards, respectively, while head coach Mark Conover collected the mens Coach of the Year award.
Moriarty was the top freshman finisher at the Big West Championships, recording an 8K time of 24 minutes, 41 seconds and placing 21st overall. Breadmore finished fourth in the 6K with a time of 20:42.
Conover earned his ninth Coach of the Year honors, coaching the mens program to its 11th title in the past 14 seasons after placing seven runners in the top 14 spots for 36 points.
Other award winners included UC Riversides Chad Hall and Long Beach States Rosa Del Toro, who won the mens and womens Athlete of Year awards. UC Davis Drew Wartenburg earned Womens Coach of the Year.
Cal Poly men's team, Hansen finish ninth at Pacific event
The Cal Poly mens golf team finished in ninth place Wednesday as the three-day SCVB Pacific Invitational concluded Wednesday at the Brookside Country Club in Stockton.
Cal Poly finished 29-over (at 881) in 54 holes, one stroke behind BYU (880) and 23 strokes behind first-place Oregon State (855).
Sophomore Justin Haley was the Mustangs top finisher, totaling an even-par 71 on Wednesday and finishing in a tie for 12th place (216).
UC Davis sophomore Matt Hansen, a Morro Bay High grad, carded a final-round 69 to finish tied for ninth at 214.
