Two Shandon residents were arrested this morning by sheriffs deputies on suspicion of being under the influence of a controlled substance and child endangerment after a traffic stop. They may also be involved in rural burglaries, sheriff's officials said.
Frances Vaca Cardenas, 24, and Mares Leticia Rodriques, 18, which deputies say may not be her real name, were arrested at 10:42 a.m. at Highway 46 and Golden Hill Road. The deputy who stopped their vehicle was suspicious because the rear license plate of the car was covered and brand and model identification had been stripped off the vehicle.
