Twenty-six firefighters from three different agencies responded to a two-alarm house fire in Arroyo Grande on Wednesday afternoon.
The fire started at 1 p.m. in a closet area off the laundry room of a single-story ranch-style home along Tally Ho Road, Five Cities Fire Authority Chief Michael Hubert said.
No one was home at the time, and no one was hurt, he said. Two dogs were safely removed from the backyard, and the fire was knocked down by 1:12 p.m., fire officials said.
A fire investigator is still working to determine the cause of the fire, Hubert said. A damage estimate was not immediately available.
The blaze caused significant fire damage to the home, including its living room and laundry room, and smoke damage throughout, Hubert said.
Firefighters from the Five Cities Fire Authority, Pismo Beach/Cal Fire and the San Luis Obispo Fire Department helped put out the blaze.
