The Arroyo Grande high boys cross country team placed first overall in Division 2 Race 101 at the Mt. SAC Invitational on Saturday, totaling 80 points over the 3-mile run. Redlands East Valley finished a distant second with 110 points.
Each of the Eagles seven runners finished in the top 40 of 106 total runners.
Arroyo Grandes Josh Davis was the individual winner in 15 minutes, 57 seconds.
The Eagles Trevor Cowan placed fourth (15:59), Blake Maule placed 20th (16:31) and junior Corley Johnathon placed 23rd (16:41).
On the girls side, Arroyo Grande finished seventh in the team race, which was won by Redondo Union.
The Eagles were led by Hannah Stevens (18:40), who finished fourth overall. Other top Eagles finishers included Emily Johnston, who came in 14th (19:03), and Jessica Morosoli who finished 17th (19:09).
FOOTBALL
North County Christian 32, Shandon 28
Keelan Willison threw for a score and ran for three as the Crusaders downed the Outlaws in a Coast Valley League contest.
Willison scored once in the first quarter and once in the second quarter, both from 1 yard out. Shandon scored two long touchdowns to answer, a 58-yard run from Jose Hernandez and a 70-yarder by Micheal Portney to tie it at 14.
Willison then scored again from 1 yard out in the third quarter and then connected with Adam Bossom for a 5-yard TD pass after Portney struck paydirt again for Shandon from 59 yards out.
In the fourth, Daniel Katches scored on a 2-yard TD run to make it 32-21. Portney would score again, on a 36-yard run, but that was it for the Outlaws scoring.
For North County Christian (3-3, 1-1 CVL), Katches finished with a team-high 135 yards on 16 carries, while Portney ran for 243 yards on 22 carries for Shandon (3-4, 1-2 CVL).
VOLLEYBALL
Bishop Garcia Diego 3, Mission Prep 1
The Royals (9-5) fell to the Cardinals 25-21, 20-25, 25-16, 27-25.
Sadie Casacca led Mission Prep with 24 digs, while adding eight kills and four aces.
Setter Shannon Dudley had 24 assists, five digs and four kills, and Grace Ready tallied 15 kills, eight digs and two aces.
