FOOTBALL

North County Christian 32, Shandon 28

Keelan Willison threw for a score and ran for three as the Crusaders downed the Outlaws in a Coast Valley League contest.

Willison scored once in the first quarter and once in the second quarter, both from 1 yard out. Shandon scored two long touchdowns to answer, a 58-yard run from Jose Hernandez and a 70-yarder by Micheal Portney to tie it at 14.

Willison then scored again from 1 yard out in the third quarter and then connected with Adam Bossom for a 5-yard TD pass after Portney struck paydirt again for Shandon from 59 yards out.

In the fourth, Daniel Katches scored on a 2-yard TD run to make it 32-21. Portney would score again, on a 36-yard run, but that was it for the Outlaws’ scoring.

For North County Christian (3-3, 1-1 CVL), Katches finished with a team-high 135 yards on 16 carries, while Portney ran for 243 yards on 22 carries for Shandon (3-4, 1-2 CVL).
