Urbane Café, a gourmet sandwich and salad shop, is on schedule to open Nov. 1 at 925 Higuera St. in San Luis Obispo.
The 2,800-square-foot space, previously occupied by San Luis Surf, has undergone an extensive remodel. The storefront has been pushed back to make way for patio dining, a full kitchen has been added, the ceiling lifted and several windows have been installed, giving the restaurant a well-lit, open feel.
Twenty-three employees have been hired to work at the restaurant. More may be added later if needed, said General Manager Amanda Jackson.
“We really lucked out with this location,” she said, noting that it’s on the corner of a busy intersection (Higuera and Morro streets).
Urbane Café will be open from 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. Mondays through Saturdays and 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. Sundays.
