The Cal Poly mens golf team finished eighth Tuesday afternoon amid foggy conditions at the 13-team Bill Cullum Invitational held at Wood Ranch Golf Club.
The Mustangs were led by Scott Patterson, who shot a final-round 73 to finish with a two-day, 54-hole, 1-over, 15th-place total of 217.
Cal Poly finished with a 15-over, four-person 879.
Arizona State and Long Beach State tied for the team win with 11-under 853s. There was no playoff because of the fog. Arizona States Spencer Fletcher and Loyola Marymounts Tyler Torano tied for medalist honors at 8-under 208.
Hansen has strong final round
UC Davis sophomore golfer Matt Hansen, a Morro Bay High grad from Los Osos, shot a 3-under 68 Tuesday at the Alister MacKenzie Invitational held at Meadow Club.
His final-round performance included four birdies. Hansen finished tied for 42nd at a 1-over 214 total.
Keddy earns another honor
A day after she was named the Big West Conference womens volleyball player of the week, Cal Poly junior middle blocker Jennifer Keddy was named the Collegiate Volleyball Update National Player of the Week.
The Missoula, Mont. native averaged 4.8 kills and 3.2 digs per set and hit .418 while leading the Mustangs to wins over UC Santa Barbara and Cal State Northridge this past week.
Cal Poly to host volleyball clinic
Cal Poly volleyball coaches Caroline Walters and Justin Hutchins will hold a volleyball clinic for girls ages 9 through 12 from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Sunday at San Luis Obispo High.
