UPDATE 4 p.m.: The fast lane of southbound Highway 101 south of Santa Barbara Road in Atascadero has reopened, according to Caltrans.

Original story: A power failure at an asphalt facility in Santa Margarita has closed the fast lane of southbound Highway 101 south of Santa Barbara Road in Atascadero for about a half-mile, according to Caltrans.

The fast lane is estimated to be reopened by 3 p.m. today.

Caltrans suggests drivers use an alternate route if possible.

  • Don't use all capital letters. That's akin to yelling and not appreciated by the audience.
