Two dozen firefighters from three fire departments put out a blaze at an Atascadero residence early Thursday.
Just after 8 a.m., firefighters found the blaze coming from the rear and side windows and spreading into the attic of a multi-family residence at 5315 Barrenda Ave., according to an Atascadero Fire Department news release.
It took about a half-hour to put the fire out, authorities said.
Investigators suspect the fire started in the buildings rear service porch but are still looking for the cause.
Fire and smoke caused severe damage throughout the building, but firefighters kept the blaze from spreading to the adjacent residence, according to the news release.
The occupant was not home at the time of the fire, which a neighbor had reported.
