San Luis Obispo just missed tying a heat record Thursday.
Local forecaster John Lindsey said that the city reached a high of 102 degrees at the San Luis Obispo County Regional Airport. The record high temperature for Thursday is 103 degrees, set in 1950 at Cal Poly.
It was also hot in Santa Maria, which reached 100 degrees Thursday afternoon just missing its record for the day by one degree.
At 4:30 p.m. Paso Robles was 95 degrees, well under the 103-degree mark set in 1999, Lindsey said.
Highs today will remain in the 90s in the North County, but fall into the 80s in San Luis Obispo and the 70s along the coast. The cooling will continue into the weekend, forecasters say.
