Moose Deli and Brew, a sandwich and beer restaurant, is about to open at 950 Price St. in Pismo Beach in a space formally occupied by Utopia bakery.
In August, Utopia closed both its San Luis Obispo and Pismo Beach locations. A note left on the bakerys door at the locations stated that the owners were forced to close due to the economy.
The Moose Deli and Brew is hoping for a different fate.
The restaurant will serve a variety of specialty soups, salads, sandwiches, beers and wines.
The owners are a brother and sister-in-law team.
Kevin Medici was the former assistant general manager and marketing director for Woodstocks Pizza in San Luis Obispo. His partner, Amy Dillinger, is a former Las Vegas police officer.
The two are in the process of remodeling the restaurants patio to accommodate an outdoor eating area. The patio will be heated and equipped with several flat-screen TVs.
The restaurant is set to open sometime in late October or early November.
