A Santa Margarita man faces seven charges, including attempted murder, following an alleged domestic violence incident in Morro Bay early Monday.
Shortly after 2 a.m. Monday, Morro Bay police were dispatched to a hotel in the 200 block of Atascadero Road to investigate a reported domestic violence disturbance. Officers talked to a woman who said that during an argument her boyfriend, Romen Homero Deleon, 31, prevented her from leaving the hotel room, took away her cellphone and then restrained and attacked her, according to a news release from the Morro Bay Police Department.
Deleon left the hotel before police arrived on the scene. Paramedics treated the woman for her injuries, police said.
Later that day, police went to an address in Santa Margarita where they thought the suspect might be staying. Officers with Morro Bay and Atascadero police and the San Luis Obispo County Sheriffs Department took Deleon into custody without incident.
Deleon was booked into County Jail on suspicion of attempted murder, assault with a deadly weapon, false imprisonment, felony domestic violence, victim intimidation, obstructing the use of cellular phone and vandalism. He remains in custody awaiting arraignment, Morro Bay police say.
