Sheriff’s deputies arrested three Nipomo residents on Thursday in connection with a felony assault case that happened in July.
Jerry Lee Vann, 38, his wife, Sethi Marie Vann, 37, and their son, David Lee Vann, 19, were arrested after a two-month investigation into what appears to be a case of mistaken identity.

On July 28, a fight involving David Vann and another man started on a bus taking passengers from the Mid-State Fair to a shopping center parking lot in Nipomo, according to a news release from the Sheriff’s Department.
The bus driver dialed 911 and met sheriff’s deputies in a parking lot at Highway 101 and Highway 58 in Santa Margarita, where Vann and his girlfriend — who was not arrested or cited — were ejected.
They did not identify the other man involved in the fight to sheriff’s deputies, said sheriff’s spokesman Rob Bryn. The bus left and headed south and deputies stayed until Vann and his girlfriend were picked up.
The bus then stopped in San Luis Obispo, where the man involved in the altercation apparently exited the bus, Bryn said.
When the bus reached the 500 block of West Tefft Street in Nipomo at 12:38 a.m., David Vann and his parents were waiting, according to the news release. They apparently mistook another man and woman for those involved in the fight and proceeded to kick and slap them, Bryn said.
The man was treated at the scene for some facial wounds, Bryn said. The couple was not identified.
Jerry Vann was arrested on suspicion of felony assault and terrorist threats; Sethi and David Vann were each arrested on suspicion of felony assault. All were booked into County Jail.
