Konas Deli in San Luis Obispo is open again after being destroyed by an arson in March 2010.
The $1.5 million restoration project is nearly complete in the Foothill Square complex where the deli is located. Crews are putting the finishing touches on a newly added redwood deck.
Konas owners, Paula and Eric Boggs, say they are extremely happy about reopening in the same 1,400-square-foot location theyve occupied since 1989.
It feels wonderful, Paula Boggs said. We didnt want to go anywhere else. Everyone is used to seeing us here, and its been great to see all of our old customers return.
Cabo San Luis, the 2,900-square-foot restaurant that was next to Konas, was also destroyed by the blaze but will not reopen in that same spot.
No one has been arrested in the arson case.
