The Nipomo High boys water polo team won its first two games of the San Gabriel Valley Shootout on Saturday afternoon before losing in the championship game.
The Titans (12-3) began the day with a 12-7 win over Oceanview as Marc Baker led the Titans with five goals, and Cole Holloway added a hat trick, as Nipomo advanced to the semifinals.

Kirk Wilenius had seven saves in the win.
Holloway and J.W. Dobbe tied for the team lead with three goals, and Wilenius made six saves to push the Titans pass Cajon, 10-4, and into the finals.
However, the Titans were unable to muster a fifth win over the two days, as Hoover beat Nipomo 15-3 in the final. Connor Cavazos scored two goals and Michael Munoz had one for Nipomo. Wilenius made three saves.
Arroyo Grande split its two games, losing to Tesoro 14-13 in overtime and defeating Trabuco Hills 12-9.
Against Tesoro, Dennis Meffert led Arroyo Grande with three goals, and Roberto Dessi and Tanner Sandman both scored two.
Meffert then scored a team-high six goals in the Eagles’ win against Trabuco Hills. Taylor Ross scored three, and Sandman had two.
Chandler Mankins also had four saves, and Clint Doucette had three for Arroyo Grande (3-4).
Seamus Land led the Tigers to a fourth-place finish on the boys side, and Christine Hoffmann helped San Luis Obispo to a 12th-place finish on the girls side in Division 3.
Land placed fourth after finishing with a time of 15 minutes, 36 seconds over the 5K course, while Hoffmann placed fifth with a time of 18:09.
On the boys side, Luke Kraemer (16:13) placed 17th, and Josh Ernst (16:29) finished 26th.
For Mission Prep, the girls finished in 12th place in the Division 5 race. Rachel Frye placed 14th overall with a time of 19:58. Demetria Castanon finished in 43rd place in 21:24.
On the boys side, Ethan Hopwood was the first Royals runner in 29th place in a time of 17:38, as Mission Prep finished in 16th place as a team in the Division 5 race.
James McCay came in 36th in 17:45.
The Morro Bay girls team finished in sixth place in the large schools division over the 2.8-mile course at Griffith Park in Santa Monica.
Shannon McClish paced the Pirates by finishing in 20th place in 19:06. Madeline Ogle finished right behind McClish in 19:13.
The boys team came in 13th overall and were led by Bill Vedrin, who came in 43rd place in 16:36.
