Trustees of the San Luis Coastal Unified School District appointed former board member Kathryn Eisendrath Rogers to fill the vacant seat on the seven-member school board.
Rogers takes the place of Phil Angel, who resigned from the board in August. She will serve the remainder of his term through Dec. 1, 2012, representing the Avila Beach and San Luis Obispo area.
Rogers ran for re-election to the school board in 2010, narrowly losing to Jim Quesenberry.
Rogers background includes broadcast journalism and a career as a television writer and producer. She holds a masters degree in psychology and a doctorate in leadership and human behavior.
She says she devotes her time to her two sons and as a school and community volunteer. She has been an active classroom volunteer since 2003 and served on various school site councils and advisory bodies. She also was a member of the San Luis Obispo Youth Symphony and the Music Education committee for three years, and she assists with the 24-Hour Relay each year.
Nothing could be more rewarding, challenging and satisfying than joining my former colleagues to implement the boards new initiatives, said Rogers in her application. I am passionate about the districts mission to provide the best education possible for each and every student.
Rogers said she is committed to running for re-election in 2012 when the term expires.
