  Nearly two months of work on sidewalks in the East Village area of Cambria is set to begin Monday, the county Department of Public Works has announced.

  Crews will be putting in sidewalk ramps at 11 locations to make them more accessible to people with disabilities in compliance with the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA).

  Work is scheduled to take place from 7 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. weekdays.

  Because of work on the Willow Road project, Thompson Avenue in Nipomo will be closed intermittently between 7 a.m. and 3:30 p.m. starting Monday and lasting through April 13.

  Flagmen will direct traffic, according to Dale Ramey of the San Luis Obispo County Public Works Department, who added that motorists should expect five-minute delays.

  Willow Road interchange work is expected to be completed and open to traffic by the end of this year, possibly sooner, Ramey said.

  Nighttime construction will begin Monday on Highway 101 at the Willow Road interchange project in Nipomo and will last through Thursday night, as the county continues to prepare the interchange for eventual use.

  The Department of Public Works says Granite Construction will be working on the freeway between 7 p.m. and 6 a.m., “preparing the roadway for moving southbound traffic off the median detour onto the new southbound highway bridge. The inside lanes will be closed during this nighttime schedule.”

  The county said drivers should expect 10-minute delays.
