Cal Poly men's soccer team loses in double overtime

The Cal Poly men’s soccer team got a goal in the 86th minute from Dakota Collins to force overtime but allowed a goal with seven seconds to play in the second overtime in a 2-1 loss to Seattle University on Sunday at Alex G. Spanos Stadium.

Collins, who transferred from UCLA, scored his first collegiate goal.

The Mustangs (1-1-1) had an eight-match unbeaten streak at home snapped.

It was the second double-overtime game in the past three days for Cal Poly, who tied New Mexico 0-0 on Friday night.

Goalkeeper Patrick McLain made three saves for Cal Poly.

Travis Heim scored the game-winner, and Brandon Hamer scored in the 73rd minute for Seattle (1-1-1).

WOMEN’S SOCCER St. Mary’s 3, Cal Poly 1

The Gaels scored three first-half goals en route to the win in Moraga.

Tiffany Gummow scored her first goal of the season for Cal Poly (3-3).

Jordan Marada scored twice, and Kaytlyn Steele added a goal for St. Mary’s (3-1-1).
