  With her 33 points against Pacific, forward Kristina Santiago became Cal Poly’s all-time leading scorer as the Mustangs women’s basketball team defeated Pacific 88-66 to claim the outright Big West regular season title Saturday.

  Santiago moves past Laura Buehning, who scored 1,843 points at Cal Poly from 1979-82, to lead the program’s all-time scoring list. Santiago now has 1,873 career points.

  Santiago also had 10 rebounds, marking her 16th double-double of the season, and had a career-high five blocks.

  Jordan Beck, Chris Gocong, Kyle Shotwell and Ramses Barden dominated the Great West Conference during their playing days for the Cal Poly football team.

  Those four, and six other former Mustangs were named Wednesday to the All-Time Great West Football Team.

  The team was voted on mostly by current and former sports information directors at the Great West schools along with members of the Great West Conference office. The football portion of the conference began in 2004 and ended this year with all of its teams going into different leagues for next season, including Cal Poly, which will join the Big Sky Conference for football only in 2012. Over the course of the eight seasons the conference existed for football, it included Cal Poly, UC Davis, Southern Utah, North Dakota, South Dakota, North Dakota State, South Dakota State and Northern Colorado.

  Forward Kristina Santiago, led the Cal Poly women’s basketball team with 33 points and grabbed a team-high 11 rebounds, but the Mustangs fell to Loyola Marymount 73-72 on Monday.

  Santiago also led the Mustangs with four assists and two blocks, but couldn’t stop the Mustangs (3-8) from dropping their sixth straight game.

  Christine Martin scored 11 points, and Caroline Reeves added 10 for Cal Poly.
