County/Cal Fire reports that a brush fire in California Valley north of Highway 58 was 100 percent contained Sunday after burning about 1,500 acres.
A barn, a vehicle and a trailer were destroyed in what the agency dubbed the Soda Fire, according to a news release issued Monday afternoon.
It began as a structure fire that spread into the grass and vegetation near the remote eastern San Luis Obispo County community on Saturday afternoon about a mile east of Soda Lake Road, Cal Fire said.
Firefighters had it contained by 2 p.m. Sunday. The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
It was reported just before 3 p.m. Saturday and at that time had burned about 200 acres, according to Cal Fire. Firefighters started containing the blaze by 7 p.m. that night.
