Anyone interested in applying for a vacant seat on the Lucia Mar school board can attend an informational meeting set for 5 p.m. today at the Nipomo High School library.
Prospective applicants can learn about the board position which represents the Nipomo area as well as the responsibilities, needed commitment and benefits.
The seat has been vacant since July, when Tiffany Alcantara resigned because she moved to Oceano. The school board will appoint her successor.
Superintendent Jim Hogeboom will also go over information about the district San Luis Obispo Countys largest school system and the role of the school board. Other district leaders will be there to answer questions.
To be eligible for the seat, applicants must live in the Nipomo area. Applications are due at 4 p.m. Sept. 8. Nipomo High School is at 525 N. Thompson Road.
