The Atascadero Police Department will get $154,000 in upgrades to its 911 dispatch center by the end of the year.
While the changes wont be apparent to callers, the state grant project will modernize the centers software so its ready for cell phone industry advancements. The change will help dispatchers save time by making their analog voice recording system digital and increasing system compatibility with the San Luis Obispo Sheriffs and Paso Robles Police departments so less training is needed during shortages and emergencies.
