Atascadero police to upgrade 911 dispatch center

The Atascadero Police Department will get $154,000 in upgrades to its 911 dispatch center by the end of the year.

While the changes won’t be apparent to callers, the state grant project will modernize the center’s software so it’s ready for cell phone industry advancements. The change will help dispatchers save time by making their analog voice recording system digital and increasing system compatibility with the San Luis Obispo Sheriff’s and Paso Robles Police departments so less training is needed during shortages and emergencies.

About $105,000 will be used for the technology upgrades while the other $49,000 will go toward two workstations.

  • Don't use all capital letters. That's akin to yelling and not appreciated by the audience.
