Free bicycle safety classes and maintenance tips for kids will be offered from 9 to 11 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 27, in Atascadero.
The Atascadero Police Department is hosting a "bicycle rodeo" for elementary school-aged children and encourages families to attend.
Similar events are held nationwide to teach kids how to safely ride and care for their bikes as the school season kicks into gear.
The free event, to be held Sunken Gardens off El Camino Real, will feature courses, demonstrations and assistance from local bicycle shops.
Helmets are required to participate.
Those with questions can contact Traffic Unit officer Rory Linn at 470-3276 or rlinn@atascadero.org.
