What’s Your Emergency?

Each day, dispatchers from the seven police departments in San Luis Obispo County take dozens of calls from residents seeking help for issues ranging from minor disputes to serious crimes. The Tribune provides coverage of serious crimes every day on its news pages.

Terrible tourists

1:01 a.m. July 31, Scolari’s parking lot in Pismo Beach

A woman said she was returning a movie at Scolari’s when her vehicle was hit by another vehicle in the lot. She didn’t have her phone and was afraid to confront the subjects because they were drinking.

The vehicle’s passenger got out of the car and threw a beer in the trash.

She wrote down the license plate number and left the lot. The driver yelled that it was a rental car.

Go south, young men

7:19 p.m. Aug. 2, End of Oceanview Avenue in Pismo Beach

A blue truck was on the beach, unloading a picnic. An officer talked to the occupants, who were in the wrong area.

They thought they were in Oceano.

Not too legit

10:48 a.m. July 31, 799 Higuera St. in San Luis Obispo

A white vehicle with “taxi” written in purple letters all over it was seen.

Hosed

11:37 a.m. Aug. 2, 977 Pismo St. in San Luis Obispo

A garden hose and bracket were taken from the front of a house.

Way to spread the message

11:36 a.m. July 31, 1540 Froom Ranch Road in San Luis Obispo

A male protester at Costco was approaching vehicles with an air horn and called one driver ignorant.

Waking up the neighbors

5:28 a.m. Aug. 1, 2935 Augusta Drive in San Luis Obispo

A resident complained that his neighbor honks his horn every morning for his wife to bring out his lunch.

Sealed with a kiss

5:24 p.m. Aug. 2, 3960 Broad St. in San Luis Obispo

A homeless man delivered a 14-page love letter to a female employee at CVS.

After-school special

4:22 p.m. Aug. 1, police station in Pismo Beach

A resident asked for assistance in how to handle some new kids in town who offered his kids drugs.

Message not received

12:45 p.m. Aug. 2, 1011 Railroad Ave. in San Luis Obispo

A woman called 911 said, “1241 Amtrak, $10 breakfast,” and hung up.
