A flurry of work was seen Friday as workers gear up to open the California Mid-State Fair on Wednesday.
The area in and around the Paso Robles Event Center on the city’s west side has already been prepped for the crowds after several revamps earlier this year.

Improvements included roughly $25,000 in agricultural area improvements from the fair’s Heritage Foundation, an organization that helps support 4-H, FFA and related improvement projects.
The city spent about $280,000 in fall 2010 to add a sidewalk, street trees and decorative streetlights along the west side of Riverside Avenue between 21st and 24th streets across from the event center.
The event center spent about $90,000 to repave its midway earlier this month. The fair’s main drag hadn’t received a fresh coat of asphalt and sealant in many years, officials said.
The 12-day Mid-State Fair will run through July 31.
