Brian Hermanson is stepping down after just one season as executive director of the San Luis Obispo Symphony.

“He’s done a wonderful job. We will miss him,” symphony marketing director Patty Thayer said Friday.

According to Thayer, Hermanson resigned for “personal and family reasons.”

Hermanson took his post at the start of the symphony’s 50th anniversary season in October 2010, replacing longtime Executive Director Sandi Sigurdson.

A founding member of the Cerulean Wind Quintet, the New York native previously served as executive director of the Georgia Youth Symphony Orchestra, which he co-founded, and the Cobb Symphony Orchestra in Kennesaw, Ga.

Thayer said the symphony will start the search for a new executive director immediately.
