Drunken man walks into Cayucos home then passes out, deputies say

Published: June 21, 2011

A Morro Bay man was arrested Monday after allegedly entering a Cayucos home and then passing out intoxicated.

At 2:45 a.m., the Sheriff’s Department received a call from residents on Circle Drive saying a man was in their home.

The husband confronted the intruder, who had come in through an unlocked front door, and held him in the home, while his wife armed herself with a knife and called 911 from upstairs, according to authorities.

When deputies arrived at the home to arrest the man — identified as 32-year-old Robert Auston Romero — he was passed out, authorities said.

Romero was arrested on suspicion of being drunk in public and booked into County Jail.
