Caltrans workers raise the flag to half-staff in honor of workers killed this year during its 21st annual Worker Memorial Ceremony in San Luis Obispo.

The lives of Caltrans workers who died while working on state highways were honored Wednesday at the 21st annual Worker Memorial Ceremony at Caltrans offices on Higuera Street in San Luis Obispo.

During the ceremony, a rose for each employee killed on duty in the Central Coast district was placed atop a memorial rock displaying their engraved names.

Since 1924, 175 Caltrans employees have been killed on the job, eight in the Central Coast district.

  • Don't repeat the same comment over and over. We heard you the first time.
  • Do not use the commenting system for advertising. That's spam and it isn't allowed.
  • Don't use all capital letters. That's akin to yelling and not appreciated by the audience.
