Mason Radeke has yet to pitch a full season for the Cal Poly baseball team.
His freshman year, Radeke took the mound 13 times after gaining his academic eligibility midway through the season. He was shut down with elbow soreness after just four starts last year.

This season, the junior is showing everyone what they’ve missed.
The Santa Barbara High graduate returned home to strike out 13 batters in seven innings to help the Mustangs (11-4, 3-1 Big West Conference) defeat UC Santa Barbara 6-4 in the opener of a three-game series Friday.
Allowing three earned runs and lowering his ERA to 2.82, Radeke (4-1) was only one strikeout off the 14 he racked up in the Mustangs’ home opener against Valparaiso, a total that tied the school’s Division I program record.
Radeke also got some help at the plate.
Cal Poly freshman Jimmy Allen went 2 for 3, junior shortstop Mike Miller went 2 for 4 with a double and an RBI and senior designated hitter D.J. Gentile batted 2 for 4 with a double, two runs and an RBI.
SWIMMING AND DIVING
Cuesta at Western State Quad meet
Three swimmers won individual events for Cuesta in the nonscoring meet.
Evan Norton won the men’s 1,650-yard freestyle with a season-best 16 minutes, 17.89 seconds, while Lawrence Bardelli won the 100 (50.61).
On the women’s side, Ally Bernard won the 50 freestyle with a time of 25.71.
WOMEN’S TENNIS
Pepperdine 5, Cal Poly 2
The Mustangs (14-4) had their nine-match winn-ing streak end on the road against Pepperdine (11-6).
The doubles team of Amy Markhoff and Alexa Lee beat Pepperdine’s No. 1 team of Anamika Bhargava and Marie Zalameda 8-7 to start things off, but Cal Poly registered just two more wins.
Jennifer Cornea defeated Khunpak 4-6, 7-6 (12-10), 6-4 and Jocelyn Davis defeated Marie Zalameda 3-6, 6-2, 1-0 (10-5) for the Mustangs. The last two matches of the day were decided on tiebreakers, with Davis winning the first and Megan Moore falling to Pepperdine’s Kathryn Webb 6-7, 6-4, 1-0 (10-3).
