The San Luis Obispo Film Festival saw stronger ticket sales and attendance this spring despite switching to a shorter schedule.
According Wendy Eidson, the festivals executive director, the event earned $65,000 in terms of ticket and festival pass sales, up from about $47,000 in 2010.
Organizers counted almost 7,000 admissions, a 3 percent increase from last year.
The film festival, which ran March 9 through the 13, went to a five-day format this spring.
The festival also added a new website, new venues Galaxy Theatres in Atascadero and the Monday Club in San Luis Obispo and new events, including the cycling-themed Bike Nite and the Chicks n Flicks program, a series of screenings, workshops and panel discussions dedicated to women in cinema.
Eidson described the boost in ticket sales as very encouraging.
In a still gloomy economy, it looks like people still want to be entertained, she said.
