Cal Poly track and field athletes Jamison Jordan, Daniel Erdman and LeAnne Fogg have been honored by the Big West Conference for their performances in Saturday’s Cal Poly Invitational.

Jordan and Erdman were named the men’s track and the men’s field athletes of the week, respectively, while Fogg is the women’s track athlete of the week.

Jordan won the 100 meters (10.64 seconds) and 200 (21.59) at the Cal Poly Invitational while also running on the winning 400 relay team and the runner-up 1,600 relay team. Erdman won the shot put with a throw of 55 feet, 6 inches, the top mark in the Big West this season.

Fogg won the women’s 1,500 in 4 minutes, 27.37 seconds, a personal record by seven seconds.

Poly's Pane honored by Big West in tennis

Cal Poly senior Ashley Pane has been named the Big West Conference women’s tennis athlete of the week.

Pane teamed with Jocelyn Davis for doubles wins in Cal Poly’s victories over Pacific and UC Davis on Friday and Saturday, respectively. Pane also had singles wins in those two matches.

Pane is a team-best 13-3 in doubles and is 9-6 in singles.

Former SLO player leading Hawaii Pacific

Ashley Valine, a 2007 San Luis Obispo High graduate now a senior pitcher at Hawaii Pacific, helped lead the Sea Warriors to the Tournament of Champions title this past weekend. They beat Chico State 5-2 in the gold-bracket final.

In the championship game, Hawaii Pacific fell behind 2-0 in the first inning, but Valine threw a no-hitter over the ensuing six innings.

On the season, Valine (4-1) has a 2.00 ERA with 11 strikeouts in 42 innings.

Hawaii Pacific (26-9), located in Honolulu, is ranked No. 21 nationally in the latest NFCA coaches poll in its quest to defend its Division II national title from a year ago.
