Rain showers and unseasonably cool conditions are forecast for the end of the workweek as a spring storm makes its way down the West Coast.
Today will start out sunny, but the high temperature in San Luis Obispo will be just 64 degrees, about five degrees below normal, the National Weather Service said.
Strong winds will also buffet the county today, with gusts near 50 mph possible along the coast, local forecaster John Lindsey said.
Skies will cloud up tonight, leading to a slight chance of rain showers Thursday. Highs will only be in the 50s to low 60s, nearly 10 degrees below normal.
Thunderstorms are possible late Thursday evening as unstable air flows over the county, the weather service said.
There will be a higher chance of rain Friday, the weather service said, with highs remaining in the 50s.
The lows both Friday morning and Saturday morning will be in the 30s, with frost possible in the North County both days, Lindsey said.
Sunshine should return by Saturday, but temperatures will remain cooler than normal, he said.
Any rain now will add to what has been an above-normal year for rainfall at most locations in the county. SLOWeather.com, The Tribune’s main source for San Luis Obispo city data, has recorded a seasonal rain total of 34.07 inches — 12 inches above average.
